What is the International Foundation Year?

The International Foundation Year is a 7-9 month fast-track course designed for international students, just like you, who want to study Medicine abroad and need to bridge the gap between their local secondary education and starting a university degree.

You will gain the necessary academic skills whilst improving your English language so that you are fully prepared to study Medicine abroad at the best universities. To progress to medical-related degree courses, you will need to study the following modules on the International Foundation Year:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Maths for Science
  • English for Academic Purposes

  • You must be at least 17 years old
  • Have successfully completed your high school education (IGCSE’s and O-Levels accepted).
  • Have a minimum English level of 5.5 IELTS or equivalent.

How much does it
cost?

The tuition fees for IFY Health Science are €18,800, plus registration and other charges.

Compared to similar programmes offered in the UK, you can save up to 25% by choosing to study your Foundation Year in Ireland.
