Homestay Requirements

We are looking for accommodation that is either walking distance or on a bus route to Griffith College Campus on South Circular Road, Dublin 8 or Griffith College Cork, Wellington Road.

The host needs to be able to provide the following:

become-host-icons-01

Private room with access to study facilities

become-host-icons-02

Breakfast each morning and dinner each evening

become-host-icons-03

Accommodate students for a minimum 4 week period

Our students mainly arrive at the two intakes in September and January

How it works

When a room is needed, our Accommodation Officer will contact you to see if you have availability and will make arrangements with you for the student to be placed in your home.

Students come for an initial 4-week stay, with some students opting to stay on in your home for the duration of their course (one academic year). This must be agreed between the host and the student.

Students pay €700 per four weeks (except in the case of minors).

Minor students

DIFC has a minimum age of 17 years for students. For minors, hosts must be Garda Vetted. The rate per month also increases in this case to €800, due to the additional responsibility of hosting a minor student.

Application Process

If you would like to host DIFC students, you should first contact our Accommodation Officer on accommodation@difcdublin.ie or phone 01 4738120. She will then arrange to visit your home at a time convenient to you to view the accommodation available, talk you through the process and the types of student you can host and answer any questions you may have.

If you decide that you would like to proceed, we will add you to our database of homestay accommodation, which is accessible only to DIFC’s Accommodation Officer.

DIFC has been operating for almost 15 years and so we have a lot of experience in dealing with hosts and will be available to support you throughout.

Our Students

DIFC students are all international students who wish to study either at an undergraduate or postgraduate level in Ireland or the UK.  We currently have 150 students registered for our programmes.

Our students who start in September complete their programme at the end of May and the students who start in January finish their studies at the end of July with all students aiming to start university courses the following September.
