Why did you choose to study in Ireland?
I originally planned to just study English in Ireland before going to the USA for College. I had absolutely no English background when I came to Ireland 10 years ago but I had such a great time with my friends from English course which made me decide to stay in Ireland for my higher education.
What has been your favourite part of studying abroad?
Studying in a foreign country is quite challenging without family and friends around but I like adventures so I am enjoying my time here. There is a lot of freedom in the classrooms in Ireland compared to studying in South Korea. Teachers want to develop my critical thinking skills rather than just getting the final answers right. I benefit more from having the right thought process than memorisation.
What did you love about living in Ireland?
One of things I love in Ireland is easy access to other European countries. I love travelling so it gives me more flexible and opportunities to travel around with short flights.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy doing a lot of things. I go to dance class every week and go to the gym quite often. One of my favourite times during the week is doing Reformer Pilates on Sundays. This helps me to be fit and makes me feel good every time I do it. As I mentioned above, I also like to travel a lot as I have been to many countries.
What is your favourite food?
I love all kinds of food, especially Korean, Mexican and Japanese.
What is your fondest memory of DIFC?
I believe I had a great relationship with my Maths teacher Stephen. I’m always thankful to him because he is the one who introduced me to the actuarial career and I love my job! Also, I had such a great time with my friend Svetlana although she is back in Tomsk, Russia.
