Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Anas Bara, and I just finished medical school, earning my Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery after six years of hard work and dedication. It is with great pride that I now hold the title of doctor.
I want to share my story with you, detailing how I completed medical school and my aspirations to start working as an official doctor in the UK.
Discovering My Path to Medicine
My journey began when I graduated from high school in the United Arab Emirates. Even then, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in medicine. Initially, I managed to secure a place in a medical school in the UAE. However, I had a strong desire to study abroad in one of the top countries known for its medical education.
During my research, I came across Dublin International Foundation College (DIFC) through an agency. This discovery marked the beginning of my medical journey and a new chapter in my life.
I still recall my first day at DIFC I was welcomed by one of the DIFC member staff (Sylvia), and she showed me around the campus sat me down and explained everything I need to know about the course and what are the next steps.
Why DIFC Stands Out, A Commitment to Student Success
Allow me to tell you a little about DIFC and why I believe it is one of the best foundation courses provided. Let me start by the most important aspect as DIFC genuinely cares about what course you are trying to pursue, I still remember how many hours they spent training me for my medical school interview just to insure I get the university I wanted and the course I wanted, to this day I’m thankful for that. Moreover, that the foundation course at DIFC provided me with the essential skills and knowledge needed to pursue my medical studies. The environment at DIFC and in Ireland was incredibly welcoming and easy to adjust to. Although it can be hard to be away from your family, you end up building your second family at DIFC. It was an experience that not only prepared me academically but also broadened my horizons and gave me the confidence to move forward in my career.
Following DIFC, I enrolled at the University of Central Lancashire, which was my first choice, where I spent five intense years immersed in my medical education. The rigorous training and diverse clinical experiences equipped me with the competencies needed to excel in the medical field.
Currently, I am in Kenya, volunteering as a doctor and completing my electives. As I’m seeing my own patients and managing their care in collaboration with a dedicated medical team. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience, further solidifying my passion for medicine and my commitment to providing quality healthcare.
As I look forward to starting my official career as a doctor in the UK, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the opportunities ahead. The journey has been long and challenging, but every step has been worth it, and I am grateful for the experiences and knowledge I gained along the way.
