From Science Student to Law Scholar: My Journey Through DIFC to Griffith College

Hi everyone, my name is Karim Alhasan and I’m from Syria. I recently finished my first year of law at Griffith College in Dublin, Ireland. It’s been a long but interesting journey, and looking back, a big part of the credit goes to the Dublin International Foundation College (DIFC). Let me tell you how DIFC helped me switch pathes in life from science to law, and land a spot in Ireland’s number 1 college for law, Griffith College.

Discovering my passion through DIFC

Last year, I found myself at DIFC as an international student studying in the science course. While science was a facinating pathway, a deep voice inside told me there was more to my capabilities. I craved a field that challenged me intellectually, that allowed me to engage with the world and understand it in a different way. That’s when I discovered law. The idea of delving into legal systems, advocating for justice, and unraveling complex issues that the normal mind would not have thought of.

Why Ireland and DIFC?

Ireland had always captivated me. The rich history, the vibrant culture, and the stunning landscapes all painted a picture of a country that fit my adventurous spirit. But more than that, Ireland offered a top-notch education system, and DIFC, with its science course and connections with over 60 colleges stood out.

DIFC, with its specifically designed foundation courses for international students, became the bridge between my aspirations and Irish academia. The college’s focus on personalized attention and a supportive environment was exactly what I needed. The teachers at DIFC weren’t just instructors; they were mentors who guided me through my studies and even life advice outside the college which helped me cope with the irish lifestyle much faster.

DIFC understands the unique needs of international students. The curriculum is designed to bridge any gaps in your academic background, making the transition to a demanding program like law smoother plus being in a new country can be daunting and DIFC fosters a welcoming and culturally sensitive environment where you can feel comfortable asking questions and seeking guidance.

DIFC leading me to a pathway of success

DIFC’s curriculum wasn’ t just about acquiring knowledge; it was about equipping me with the skills to help me succeed in my chosen field which I discovered later on. The focus on critical thinking, research methods, and academic writing proved invaluable. The college also provided fantastic support with the application process for Griffith College. Their guidance on crafting a strong personal statement and navigating the application smoothly was of great help.

Today, as I embark on my second year of law, I’m filled with gratitude. DIFC not only equipped me with the academic foundation but also instilled the confidence to pursue my passion. Life in Ireland has been an incredible adventure where I have experienced , and I’m excited to see what the future holds.

And for all the reasons above I believe DIFC is a great fit for students from all different nationalities and age groups.
