This Thursday (11th February), DIFC is holding a University Counselling Day for our current students.
This is an important opportunity for students to learn more about the future study opportunities available to you in our partner universities from Ireland and the UK.
The schedule will comprise of a morning session where Irish Universities will do a short presentation to Foundation Year and Graduate Diploma students – followed by an afternoon fair for students to speak to Irish and UK university partners. Each university will have its own stand.
This year’s Counselling Fair is going to be our biggest yet as we have the majority of our Irish and UK university partners coming along – including 9 UK Universities. The full list of confirmed Universities is available at the bottom of this article.
So, to help you make the most of this opportunity, we thought it might be useful to share some tips on what to do at the Counselling Fair, so you can make the right decision about your future University studies.
You already know what area you want to study in University – and some of you may even have decided on the exact course – but before the Fair take some time to search the course offerings in your field for each of the Universities who will be attending (see list below). This will help you discuss the specific courses with the University reps, so you can get a good understanding of what each degree programme has to offer.
Before Thursday, have a think about what is important to you when you progress to University. Is it the on-campus accommodation options or the facilities on the University grounds? Are you looking for active student societies to get involved in or are you interested in the academic credentials of your future University? Whatever is important to you, note down a few questions and ask them to each University rep that you speak to – then you will be able to compare answers and work out the best options for you.
Talk to all Universities
Even if you have already made up your mind and have your heart set on one particular course/University or even if you want to stay and study in Ireland, it doesn’t hurt to see what else is out there. Go and have a chat to all the staff from each University – tell them what you are hoping to study and let them share what they have to offer. You may discover the perfect course which you never knew existed!
