22/10/2010Glendalough Trip - 15 October 2010
Student Report
By Sophia and Finn
Last Friday we went to Glendalough, about one hour from Dublin by bus. The weather was sunny and chilly, though at times there was some drizzle.
On the bus some people played cards while others enjoyed the scenery. Along the way we saw lambs, cows and the Sugarloaf Mountain.
Firstly, we arrived in the car park and went though the Granite Arch and into the Mosaic City, which is 1,500 years old. There was a church, Round Tower and lots of graves and headstones. Our favourite building was the church because it has a long history and was full of secret findings. Before arriving at the church I was very curious as I had been told a mummy and a ghost can be seen. However, I didn’t see either.
By Edison and Bill
Ireland is a country filled with natural breath. Walking in the country here seems to let a person breathe. We went to Glendalough on Friday.
We walked on the way to Glendalough Valley for a long time, but it was all worth while. We strolled along a forest trail, and the trees showed their different seasons to us. The different colours demonstrated the beauty to us. Warm heart red and vitality green. I loved it there. We walked on to discover the waterfall. On the way we got a special surprise, a lake. A lake of azure coloured water. It filled us with daydreams. The sound of the current came after, a little waterfall in the valley. Around the waterfall there were many green trees and picnic areas. I haven’t been to such a place in a long time.
On the way back, everybody was sleeping. I thought they should return to that field.
Roger’s adventure by Leo
Last Friday we went to Glendalough. Now I will tell you a story about my classmate, Roger. The Glendalough Waterfall is very famous. So Roger, Sophia, Grace, Mike and I went to see the waterfall. We spent about 15 minutes getting to the waterfall. When we arrived we took pictures and rested. After 5 to 10 minutes we decided to go back but Roger said ‘I will go on, to go to the mountaintop. You can go back and if you need me you can call me on my mobile phone’. So Sophia, Grace, Mike and I went back and Roger went to the mountaintop.
We waited for Roger in the picnic area for about half an hour. Some people ate ice cream, chips, and so on during this time. The weather started to change, not sunny anymore, just drizzle. Some of the guys felt cold so we went back to the coach. We used the mobile phone to call Roger, but there was no signal, so we couldn’t reach him. I sent a message, ‘you must come back, we are waiting for you on the coach’. He called to say ‘I am going back now’, and when we got to the coach, we saw Roger sitting inside. This was a surprise, as we did not know Roger had passed us. So we were very happy.
